Thank you Maine!

Well after the great Christmas Eve we had I still had the issue with the blue blob downstairs from the fondue oil that I dropped on the carpet.

Well the DH got a text from Maine asking if we still needed her steamer and she could come over that afternoon.  The DH and I talked and we figured either she was getting cabin fever or the kids were getting to her.  When she got here she told us it was both LOL

I was expecting just a little spot clean but she was a star and the whole basement including the stairs!

So once I had seen that she went above and beyond I talked to the DH and decided that I was going to abduct her and take her for lunch and a pedicure.  She didn't even know what was going on until it happened!

Thanks again and I will book you again in 6 months LOL

New Year's Eve

I worked the second job tonight but it was a short 3 hour shift.  I wasn't going to complain about it.  I have been off from the day job and really enjoyed the relaxing.

I have been looking forward to eating some food with shape since I am stepping up to soft foods.  This includes cheese strings, canned fruit and meats with sauces.

I have been concerned about over eating and stretching my tiny tummy and now that I have food with shape, how am I going to measure it?  When I was on the other stages a third of a cup was a third of a cup.  So I panicked and was posting on sooooo many of my forums just to be told that I cut up all my food into the pea sized that I chew and measure it all that into my little cups.

So I made it home for 8 and spent a quite night with the DH and I found this picture that summed up the night LOL

Christmas Day

Well we woke up around 10 which was fine with me.  I think I was happier to see Nash and the DH opening their presents than I was to receive any.  Our family stockings are a combination of both our families.  My step mom used to fill British Santa sacs that had things in it that you would use every day like razors, tooth paste, laundry soap and the like.  Well the DH's family would fill theirs with food so we blended both traditions into one.  This year I got useful things and no food.  I really couldn’t tell the DH what to put in my stocking for food since I honestly didn’t know myself.  Next year will be better for stocking stuffers.
After we opened our stockings and presents the DH made a big breakfast for him and Nash.  There was bacon, eggs, toast and juice.  I tried a soft boiled egg but I just can’t get past soft yolks without toast. I could if I had toast to dunk into it but not when I am still on the soft stage.
I asked for a digital scale since the one we had in the bathroom was a spring scale and was a little wonky to weight yourself on. I could lean one way and gain some weight but then I could lean a different direction and lose over 10 pounds. I tried to place my feet in the same spot when I got on but I was never sure.
We finished up around noon and then we started the usual Christmas Day marathon of the DVD’s that we get for Christmas. This year we had quite the selection to choose from and it was a great afternoon!

After a good afternoon of movies and relaxing we were feeling a little hungry.  We made a few calls and decided that Chinese was the way to go.  The DH ventured out to do a pick up and he brought me back some wonton soup that sat rather well.  Mind you I only ate 2 of them with the broth but I still ate Chinese on Christmas Day :)

Christmas Eve

Well I ended up really enjoying myself and the fondue party we had Christmas Eve.  We had a quite the selection of people there and moved the party downstairs since there was over a dozen that came.
I was glad that Maine & PizzaGuy came early since I used the extra hands.  The DH was working the second job and Nash was nice enough to take my shift so that I could get everything ready.  Once Ford and Ms. Mattel showed up Ms. Mattel was helping out too.

DoxyLover and her hubby arrived so that gave Montgomery a chance to chat with them before we sat down for dinner.

Around 7 pm the DH and Nash were back from the second job and I was glad to meet Momma Nash since she followed in behind Nash at the back door.
We had 3 fondues for everyone to enjoy.  We had an oil one for the beef strips, shrimp and Italian meatballs; a cheese one that had bread, blanched broccoli, and celery. For dessert we had a chocolate fondue with marshmallows, Nilla cookies and bananas.
I didn’t feel left out having my pureed dinner since Mr. DoxyLover had throat surgery and he needed soft foods too.  So between the 2 of us we ate the leftovers from the Hadfield Christmas dinner and I was still around for the chatter and banter.
I did learn a lesson…….liquid fondue fuel burns faster than the gel.  I tried to be safe and fill the burners and dropped on the carpet downstairs.  Yes this is the first “slop” on the beige carpet in the basement.  I was going to clean it up immediately but I was concerned about a chemical reaction so I just placed a paper towel over it and let it dry.
Once everyone enjoyed all the food and drinks I think Maine’s family was the last one to leave at 11:30 and there was much talk about next year’s and how some were looking forward to coming back.  Ms. Mattel was so excited since this was her first fondue ever and said that she will be more than happy to come back for another one if we have it.
